Dog Training Books: Discover which Books are Worth your Time and Money

As the editor and author of dog-health-info.net, I spend a lot of time reading dog books. And I can tell you from experience, there are some really excellent books, and some that fall way below the excellent mark.

That’s why I’ve devoted a page to dog training and health books. Read on to discover which books are worth your time and money.

Dog Training Books

Be The Pack Leader, by Cesar Millan, Melissa Jo Peltier

Review: Have you heard of the Dog Whisper? If not, you have to check it out! The show has been on the National Geographic channel for a while, and it’s great. I have to tell you that Cesar’s books are equally incredible.

The Pack Leader teaches you how to put your dog into a “calm submissive state” so you can train and establish control over your canine. This book is a must read. Check out the following link Be the Pack Leader: Use Cesar's Way to Transform Your Dog . . . and Your Lifefor more information.

Dove Cresswell Dog Training

Review: What I love about this training program is that it’s completely online! You can train your dog on your schedule. The instructor has an impressive background training dogs for Hollywood movies like Charlie’s Angels. The class successfully teaches potty training, obedience training, crate training, leash training, doggy manors and special dog tricks.

I was also very impressed that you can contact the instructor anytime with your questions. The training is much cheaper that obedience class and comes with a 100% guarantee. This is a fantastic option for training your dog. Click here for more information.

101 Dog Tricks: Step by Step Activities to Engage, Challenge, and Bond with Your Dog by Kyra Sundance

Review: 101 Dog Tricks is an awesome reference book. What I like about the author’s approach is that she makes learning tricks fun for both owner and dog.

The organization of the book is also very helpful. The author tells you how difficult the trick is and makes recommendations on which tricks should be mastered first. The descriptions and photos make teaching your dog tricks very easy! I would highly recommend this book. Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook

Review: Dog owners often wonder when it’s appropriate to call the vet. This book can help you decide what needs immediate action, and what can wait until the morning.

This is a fantastic reference book for every dog owner. There are chapters on the digestive, respiratory, and circulatory systems, the nervous, musculoskeletal, and urinary systems, puppy pediatrics, geriatrics, and chapters on cancers and medications.
